Hilltop Earthquake Rebuild
This new home in Mt Pleasant was designed to replace an existing mid-century modernist classic that was severely damaged in the earthquakes. We have taken care to respect the original features of the building and reinterpret them by using contemporary spatial design and materials.
The floor plan bends on its western face to allow for mountain and city views from the living space and bedrooms. The open-plan living area is accessed via a large pivot door that was fabricated from salvaged rimu tongue and groove ceiling panels from the original home.
