HAKA HOUSE HOSTELS, NZ WIDE
When clients Gaw Capital Partners, an international hotel platform, and New Zealand company Haka House embarked on a joint venture to redevelop and relaunch the 13 hostels previously owned by the YHA, they wanted to create spaces that appealed to a wide demographic of travellers.
Our brief was to refurbish nine of the existing hostels in Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington, Franz Josef, Christchurch, Mt Cook, Tekapo, Wanaka and Queenstown to provide a higher standard of accommodation for travellers. Alongside a large collaborative design team, there was a focus on creating social well-functioning communal areas, carefully designed sleeping spaces and raising the standard of amenities and technology. Outside spaces were also redesigned to make the most of the incredible locations and views.
